A Local’s Guide to The Pass.

Going beyond Snow Lake - Alternate Hikes

Summer at Snoqualmie Pass is better than Winter. A bold statement – especially coming from someone that moved to the area to snowboard all Winter. Hear me out! Long summer days are filled with time to hike further, climb higher, and enjoy crystal-clear alpine lakes. Once you wrap up on meetings at Pass Life Workspace, you can grab a Dolomite from Laconia Market + Cafe, throw it in your pack, and then within an hour's hike from the market, you're on the edge of Lodge Lake, where you can sit in the sun and revel in the experience. On the hike out, you make your way to Dru Bru for a fresh pint on the patio to enjoy the sunset closing out on another glorious Summer day.

Here are just a few more reasons I enjoy summer at The Pass!

Gem Lake, WA

Gem Lake - Hard

Literally just beyond Snow Lake! Continue the trail along the east side of the lake heading north and you’ll find yourself at yet another gorgeous alpine lake. You have to finish this one off with a Burger from Commonwealth Cafe, throw in some mac’ n cheese, you’ve earned it!

Take a morning stroll along the headwaters of the south fork of Snoqualmie River. This one is popular for a reason, a lot of bang for your buck! So get up early and watch the snow you slid on all winter wash away downstream.

Total banger! Carve out at least half a day if you're a hiker. Trail runners, you’re on another level and could probably knock this one out in a couple of hours. Avoid this trail if you are scared of heights!

Located off of I-90, exit 45, this lake is a quick, out and back hike that offers a well-maintained trail and of course yet another beautiful alpine lake.
